2014 Tony Award Winners


Winners of the 2014 Tony Awards for the best on Broadway have just been announced. Hosted by Australia’s Hugh Jackman sporting a bushranger beard, this year’s Tony’s saw All The Way, the story of Lyndon B Johnson, win the award for Best Play. Star of television’s Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston won the Tony for Best Actor in a Play for his portrayal of President Johnson. Meanwhile, Neil Patrick Harris took home the Tony for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which won Best Revival of a Musical. Audra McDonald was awarded Best Actress in a Play her performance in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill, while Jessie Mueller’s portrayal of singer-songwriter Carole King in Beautiful–The Carole King Musical won the Tony for Best Actress in a Musical. A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder won Best Musical, and Best Revival of a Musical was awarded to the current production of Lorraine Hansberry’s classic A Raisin in the Sun.
