The 2013 Academy Award nominations have been announced and four Australians are vying for Oscar glory.

Hugh Jackman has picked up a nomination for Actor in a Leading Role for his performance of Jean Val Jean in the musical film Les Miserables.

Naomi Watts has been nominated for Actress in a Leading Role for her performance as Maria Belon in The Impossible, a film about the Christmas 2004 tsunami in Thailand.

Jacki Weaver has received an Oscar nomination for Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Dolores Solitano in Silver Linings Playbook.

Meanwhile, Rick Findlater has received a nomination in the Makeup and Hairstyling category for his work on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
