Australians Cate Blanchett, Catherine Martin and David Clayton have been nominated for Oscars at the upcoming ceremony on 2 March.
Cate Blanchett has been nominated for Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Jasmine in the film of the same name. Blanchett previously won an Oscar for her depiction of Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator. This is Blanchett’s sixth Oscar nomination.
Catherine Martin has been nominated for two Oscars this year (Costume Design and Production Design) for The Great Gatsby. Like Blanchett, Martin has now been nominated for six Oscars, winning twice previously for Moulin Rouge.
For the second year running, Brisbane-born David Clayton has been nominated for an Oscar for Visual Effects on the Hobbit series. Clayton was previously nominated in 2012 for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and is this year nominated in the same category for the Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
