Properly marketing a Broadway musical these days is an integral factor in the show’s success. Some would argue Broadway is equal parts commerce and content. Even with the Internet helping to sell shows, a huge billboard still seems a sure-fire way to sell your product. I recall on a trip to Broadway back in 2008, the massive image of character Tracy Turnblad’s face on the Hairspray billboard in Times Square. A combination of the graphic design, colour and sheer size of this billboard made the advertising so striking and effective.
