Heath Ledger, Dead at 28

What a terrible shame it was to hear of Heath Ledger’s death today in his New York City apartment.

Ledger was a truly gifted actor with so many exciting years in his life and career ahead of him. It is difficult to forget the sensitivity and finesse with which Ledger portrayed the role of Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain. His maturity and under-playing of this role was a great lesson in acting for students of theatre, confirmed by his Academy Award nomination.

It will perhaps be a little surreal now when viewing Ledger’s current performance in the Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There and his upcoming portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight, scheduled for release in mid-July. Insiders have already been raving of Ledger’s work in the new Batman film.

Great voice … fantastic voice … such a shame 🙁 Liked to have seen him do Sweeney Todd … I think he would have done a better job than Depp … personal preference.
