Poll Results: Your Favourite Shakespeare Play

The results are in for your favourite Shakespeare play and voting has now closed. The poll opened on January 15 and closed yesterday on April 23, the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

Nearly 3,000 votes were cast by readers of The Drama Teacher from all corners of the globe.

  8. All’s Well That Ends Well (86 votes)
  9. The Tempest (81 votes)
  10. The Merchant of Venice (80 votes)

These were my big surprises in the poll results:

  • Romeo and Juliet pipped Macbeth at the post to claim top spot
  • King Lear came in as the 13th favourite play, representing just 2% of the total vote
  • All’s Well That Ends Well made it into the Top 10
  • Much Ado About Nothing was at No.5
  • Richard III got only 41 votes!

Thanks for participating everyone!
